An Honest NewAge Company Review, and What Became of It

July 3, 2022 · 5 min read · Partner.Co & the Brands

Start with the correction, because everything below is dated. This review was written in July 2022, when NewAge was a going concern and we had been selling its products for six years. Within a year of publishing it, NewAge had ceased to exist as an independent business and its brands had moved to Partner.Co, which makes and distributes them today.

We have kept the review rather than deleting it, because people still search for this company and deserve to find out what happened to it. Read the rest as history.

Which NewAge this was

Several companies use the name. This one was the network-marketing health and wellness business at newage.com, publicly traded on the NASDAQ as NBEV.

Its history was a chain of acquisitions rather than a single founding. It began in 2016 as NewAge Beverages Corporation, assembled out of Bucha Live Kombucha, Xing Tea, Aspen Pure and a Colorado distribution business. The two that matter to anyone reading this site came later: the merger with Morinda, which brought Tahitian Noni, and in 2020 the acquisition of ARIIX, which brought LIMU, Nutrifii, Slenderiiz and the network of sellers that came with them.

That last one is why a LIMU customer ended up buying from a company they had never heard of. The sequence from The LIMU Company through to today is set out in What Happened to LIMU.

The brands it held

At the time of writing, eight lines:

- LIMU, liquid seaweed drinks built on fucoidan. - NUTRIFII, the supplement range, including Optimals, Omega-Q, Renew and Restoriix. - TAHITIAN NONI, noni juice and related products, out of Morinda. - SLENDERIIZ, the weight-management line. - LUCIM, skincare. - HIRO, an energy line built on noni. - 'NHANCED, supplements and full-spectrum CBD. - REVIIVE, four personal-care items: shampoo, conditioner, body wash and toothpaste.

Four of those eight are gone. LUCIM, HIRO and 'NHANCED did not survive the changes of ownership, and Reviive was discontinued with a final purchase date of 29 February 2024. We wrote that up separately in Reviive toothpaste has been discontinued.

The four that survived are the four this store sells, and they are all on the shop.

One line from the original version of this page is worth flagging rather than quietly dropping. It reproduced the company's own description of Slenderiiz, which asserted a standard of evidence the underlying trial does not reach. What that trial actually held constant, including a 1,250 calorie daily limit and four other supplements taken alongside the drops, is set out in our Slenderiiz review.

What was genuinely good about it

The product formulations were left alone. Through two acquisitions in three years, the things in the bottles did not get cheapened. That is not guaranteed and it is the first thing that usually goes.

Sellers were given real content to work with. The company produced a substantial library of video and photography featuring the people who formulated the products, and let sellers use it freely. Most companies in this category leave that to the seller and the results look it.

Retail selling was permitted. This store exists because of that policy.

What was not

It was barely visible in the United States. A seller relies on a buyer having heard of the thing before the conversation starts, and there was very little brand awareness work happening in North America. That is the single biggest practical complaint from six years of selling these products, and it has not changed much under Partner.Co.

The wholesale margins were thin. We are in a position to say this precisely because we buy at them. The gap between what a retailer pays and what a customer pays is narrow, which is fine for us and is the reason you will not find these products discounted heavily anywhere.

The brand kept changing name. LIMU to ARIIX to NewAge to Partner.Co, in seven years. Every rename orphaned a set of links, support numbers and customer expectations. We still get calls from people trying to reach a company that stopped existing three names ago, which is why how to reach support is one of the more useful pages on this site.

On the business side

The original version of this page had a long section on earning money as a brand partner, answered in the first person. It is gone.

The reason is not squeamishness. Statements about income are held to a strict standard: they have to be typical rather than best-case, and they have to carry the company's official income disclosure. A product review is the wrong place to be making them at all. If the business side is what brought you here, it is on the opportunity page, with the disclosure attached.

FAQs

Is NewAge still in business? No. The company no longer operates under that name. Its health and wellness brands are now with Partner.Co.

Was NewAge an MLM? Yes. It sold through a network of independent brand partners rather than through retail.

Is Tahitian Noni an MLM product? It is sold the same way. Tahitian Noni came to NewAge through the Morinda merger and is now a Partner.Co brand, sold through brand partners and authorized sellers such as this one.

Was NewAge a pyramid scheme? It used the multi-level model, which is what people usually mean by the question. In our experience as sellers, recruiting was optional and neither recruiting nor regular personal purchases were required in order to sell. Whether the model as a whole is one you want to be part of is a judgement we are going to leave to you, since we are not a neutral party.

Is The LIMU Company now NewAge? It was, briefly. The LIMU Company was bought by ARIIX, ARIIX was acquired by NewAge in 2020, and the brands are now with Partner.Co.

Is ARIIX now NewAge? ARIIX was acquired by NewAge in 2020, and the ARIIX-era products largely continued unchanged. Both names are now historical.

Where do I buy the products now? From Partner.Co directly, or from an authorized seller. Ours is here, with free shipping on every order.

What happened to my subscription? Subscriptions set up under the old companies did not survive the transitions intact. If you are trying to find or cancel one, how to reach support has the current contact details, which are not the ones printed on older packaging.
